Happy to announce tcStretch is ready for public consumption.

tcStretch is a Windows VST 2.4 plug-in (64-bit and 32-bit versions available) for time stretching and pitch shifting. Time stretch can be up to 1 million times slower. Pitch shift is plus or minus one octave.

Playback is sensitive to transients in the source material. Playback rate and blur amount are automatically adjusted according to the transient contour of the material being stretched.

This is a beta release, there could be bugs lurking ... let me know if you have issues or suggestions.

EDIT: Nov 17 - WIn32 version is now available.
EDIT: Nov 18 - Version 0.2 is up with preliminary support for Drag-and-Drop file loading.
EDIT: Nov 18 - Version 0.3 is up with (hopefully) improved Drag and Drop support, meters display by default, and mono source material is output to both left and right channels.
EDIT: Nov 22 - Version 0.4 is up, lots of changes: important bugfixes, Wander controls, Transport controls, Direction Controls, Jump controls, Level control, and Octave Harmony controls. The GUI needs rework to prune the clutter and settle the overall look and feel. ** Parameters changed in this version so it may not be backward compatible with any saved projects you have with a previous version **
EDIT: Dec 06 - Version 0.5 is up: zoom and scroll waveform, wander enable/disable, reduced memory, bugfix for loading WAV/AIFF files.

Yes, definitely. The 32bit build was failing for some reason, once I get that straighetned out I will post the 32 bit version too.

I am enjoying this immensely - your tool has a lovely interface that makes it a joy to use. My only suggestion at the moment is it would be nice to be able to zoom in on the top waveform when setting the markers. I look forward to the 'wander' being implemented - that will be a huge feature for me (I'm assuming it does something like control random walk jump step size and/or rate)

Looking forward to the 32-bit version. In the meantime I'll take the 64-bit for a ride in one of my "alternative" DAWS this weekend.

there is a problem with the markers where if you advance the startmarker past the end marker it causes a crash in Reaper.

New version is up that includes the 64-bit and 32-bit versions, both with fixes to correct the marker crossover bug.

You can grab it at the same old place ("you must mean the old Same place...") http://tonecarver.wordpress.com/tcstretch/

Thanks Woggle, that means a lot to me. I have trying consciously to tame my tendency to make GUIs that are too busy. Glad I am at least moving in the right direction here. The waveform Zoom is definitely near the top of the To Do list. Wander is up there too so both should make it into a version in the near future.

tcStretch is great! I tried it in many configurations and it works like a magic wand to create drones

Version 0.2 is up with preliminary support for Drag-and-Drop file loading.

Please let me know if you have issues with this. The 64-bit version works fine for me but I was not able to drop files to the 32-bit version running bridged in Reaper x64. It may work fine running 32-bit native though ...

Drag and drop works in 32bit Reaper under 32bit OS. But loading process stops immediately when plugin window losts its focus (for example when I switch from FX view upper menu).

                            Suggestions:

                            * Change rotary "Pitch" knob to horizontal slider for better precision.
                            * Enable "Meters" option by default.
                            * Change method for switching "Dir" mode. Current method is inconvenient.

I wouldn't change the pitch knob, you can right click and enter precise values now and changing the knob to a slider will flow on to cause other interface changes. Perhaps you didn't notice you can right click on the pitch knob, a data entry box opens, and dragging the mouse while holding down changes the values - using shift+hold changes them in small incremements which is pretty standard for windows interfaces. Might be nice if you could enter text directly.

                              Definitely meters by default

With Dir you can right click and change on a pop up menu, I'm fine with that - maybe allow hold and scroll on the right click and select on release. That would be consistent with the Pitch knob. It does change with the mousewheel - all of them do, but there are inconsistencies that don't seem necessary

There is an inconsistency between the knob and slider input methods - right click on a slider and you change the values using the mouse wheel (+shift for fine increments). I'm fine with that - probably prefer it over the click+drag, but not sure why the two systems differ - If there is no good reason I'd make it consistent, maybe even switchable in prefs depending on if you use the mousewheel or not .

edit - coming back to this issue of data input. I think you need to make a visual indicator of a control being active - tiny colour change would be fine eg make it a bit lighter, given the generally dark interface. Also consider popping up the data entry box by default whenever a value is change by the mouse so that if I mouse hover over pitch and move the mousewheel, the box appears and I can see the values. Doing that consistently everywhere.
