Sample editing

What do people use for sample editing on the Mac? I've tried lots of different programs over the years, but never been happy with the workflow in any of them, and I've tried using a DAW for it as well, but again it's not really suited for that.

Partly this thread is so I might find a decent piece of software so I don't spend the next 2+ years finishing off my own half finished one (again) because while I'd enjoy that, what I really want to do is just make some music.

I have been pretty happy with Wave Editor by Audiofile Engineering. They discontinued that in favor of their new product, Triumph--which I haven't quite gotten the hang of. I should probably devote more time learning the new workflow, but often revert to Wave Editor. For really quick-n-dirty simple work, I usually use the built-in sample editor in Renoise.

I look forward to reading what others use, as well.

I've downloaded the free trial of Triumph. I laughed at their "patented layers technology" cos that's exactly the same thing as my editor could do too, but I guess they win cos they've got a finished product :fence:

I don't know if it's up to the sort of editing you have in mind, but I generally just use Audacity to edit sampled sounds. And...it's free! And the Mac version also comes with Paulstretch these days
