  • Useful Multi-Effects?

I have Tone2's Warmverb and love it, but what are some other useful muti-effects?

I'm not really counting u-he's Uhbik because it's a suite of effects rather than a single effect with multiple layers, but I guess I could.

An obvious answer, although not fr ambient is camelspace:

Best known for the possibilites on dance music (great trancegate and double delay), it can be used on ambient too and it sounds great!

A lot of things that might 'normally' be considered as tools for dance music are also very applicable for ambient music as well. Not only on the software side (e.g. with Live), but also on the hardware side. And not only in the studio but especially for live use.

        Reaktor!

Audio Damages BigSeq2 is a bit of a gem; a dozen sequencers controlling ten different effects. Lots of rhythmic possibilities, use it subtlety for lovely evolving madness.

From their site: "The included effects are VCA, pan, multi-mode filter, fuzz, sine warp, delay (with chorus and flanger modes), frequency shifter (also providing ring mod and phasing), sample rate reduction, bit depth, and our own "Error" effect."
Latest release: never to be repeated

Very true! The same could be said for any number of other things... if you happen to have Amplitube for example, etc. This sort of thing was true for hardware and is true for software as well. Good call, robo!

                Yep, lots of others too.

I actually think that Guitar Rig's weakness with guitars in that it doesn't do a good job at emulating real world pedals is its strength in other areas where the FX are more generic and thus more flexible in the way that they work well.

I hadn't thought of using Guitar Rig or Amplitube on synths, to be honest.

It’s always a good idea to use tools on things they were not meant to be used on... ;-)

Some of the POD Farm FX can be useful fo this kind of thing.

I like to jam around with Tim Exile/NI's The Finger for reaktor, just really intuitive and inspiring to use, especially with some sort of controller. Sugar Bytes' Turnado also looks pretty decent although I'm still yet to try it.

I am constantly tempted by the possibilities that Turnado has to offer. I just never had time to trial it.

DiversionFX CM edition has been useful for me as has SpectrumWorxCM.

Cumulus and SFX Machine Pro can also be suitable for ambient
