I've already commented over there, but I'd like to bring the conversation back to the AO family. I didn't realize how serious people felt about this issue until A.) Seismic's KVR thread and B.) I started noticing a BUNCH of people on SoundCloud changing their profile photo to the "Save SoundCloud Classic" icon.
To me, this has overtones of what has happened on facebook for the past 5 years and even before that when millions were on MySpace. SoundCloud is the next to experience growing pains stemmed from user feedback. Once changes are finally fully implemented (no turning back) users adapt and move on.
I'm going to echo what I said on your original thread...I am hoping that once everything is in place that SoundCloud really blows away with a functional and usable service. After "switching back" to classic for about 2 weeks I recently "tried out" the new SoundCloud again and found they had polished up even more stuff. There's only a few links on the site now that still default to classic when you click on them. The transition is almost complete and I'm thinking it's only a matter of weeks before they give us a "Welcome to the new SoundCloud" and then put an end date on classic. :tu:

I don't know how this is going to pan out. I keep flipping between the old and new versions, but there is so much stuff that just doesn't work anymore. It's definitely not geared towards the musicians among their clientele, but towards casual listeners, so this seems to indicate a quantum shift in SoundCloud view/vision of themselves. I really hope that they are listening to their content providers.
I like some of the elements that make up the new interface, but there is just so much stuff that gets in the way at the moment. Quite a few people who replied on the thread have not renewed or will not be renewing their subscriptions. The fact that the old interface is still available is quite revealing. Time will tell. It would be a pity if SoundCloud were to ignore the wishes of their paying user community, but stranger things have happened.

It may be that, just as people fled the old Myspace for SoundCloud, the reverse will happen again and there will be a mass exodus from SoundCloud back to the new Myspace, which is heavily music focused. It has to actually take off first though.

I guess my comments belong in "Uh-oh".
What I can say is that I really don't like the new SoundCloud, but I'll be sticking with them. Hopefully they'll add back in some of the functions that are missing, like being able to add tracks to a group.
Other than the missing functions it's not all that bad, but when I want to listen to one tune, I want to listen to one tune, not all of the related tunes on the Cloud.

Rupert sold MySpace quite a while back....at a huge loss...figures are probably wrong, but something like bought for 500 million and sold for 30 million.
I used ISound for approx $120 a year...which allowed deep links...but it folded.
Now I use ReverbNation, $2.95 monthly for as many tunes as I want, only mp3 format, and up to 100MB
they all suck one way or another.
