I completed this a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have time to post it until yesterday, with Nordic travels and whatnot.. This is a downtempo piece featuring Phonec and Construct. I like these Psychic Modulation synths. Phonec in particular has given this track a BOC/Vangelis vibe. I even got to play my Strat and the Jazz bass on here too.

It took me some time to give this a proper listen and I'm glad I remembered, because this is awesome. Afer three or four spins I think you simply nailed that elegiac, wistful tone. Great production throughout & full of little gems, for example the introduction of the brassy synth lead around 1:40. Really don't think you could do much to improve this. Thanks for sharing!Comment

Returned for another listen this morning…and loved it again! All the parts sound great and fit together so well! I especially like the Lounge Lizard EP. I picked EP4 up on sale summer of 2013 and have been trying to fit it into my ambient stuff. But my work seems to steer way out and the EP hasn't fit well yet…
Listening to this track again inspires me to try once again. I hope I can fit it into the track I'm working on for AO Vol 3!
Edit: P.S.-Thanks for providing the DL :listening:Only dead fish go with the flow.Comment

That brassy synth is phonec. It's a little gem, great for many different other-worldly sounds.
I could improve this track by actually learning to play guitar :lol:Comment

Glad to hear that you're still enjoying this one. Thanks very much for the great comments :tu:
Lounge Lizard is a great plugin with a very extensive range of presets which can be easily tweaked. I've only used it on a couple of tracks, but in each case, I think the trick was pairing it with suitable external FX. In this case I used REFLEX Free, with a clean output from EP combined with an automated mix level on the REFLEX channel. Another sound that I like (at the end of Divide and Conquer) uses one of the phaser-affected presets through an external delay. I imagine both of these setups would be suitable for ambient. I'm currently having a similar problem with my guitars. I know the sound that I'm after, but I currently haven't yet been able to create it.Comment

Here is the 2021 remix and master of Ganymede's Inertia. As usual, I made some EQ changes, using EQuivocate for targetted cuts. I made some slight panning adjustments, and added a little gain automation and some volume tweaks.
I hope you enjoy it👍 1Comment

Nice track! I like the rhythm and the beat. I also have always like the combination of electric piano and electric guitar.
Also, nice Strat.
Mine is a Year 2000 issue Mexican-made Strat that I picked up in a pawn shop for $300- all it needed were some adjustments- I eventually put a GK-3 pickup on it when I got a Roland guitar synth, a GR-20. It is now hooked up to a GR-55.
The other guitar is a 2013 issue Gibson SG-J which I customised in 2014.You do not have permission to view this gallery.

The electric piano sound on here is actually Lounge Lizard EP-4 and Ganymed (an old 32-bit FM synth) layered together. Ganymed is routed through Valhalla FreqEcho and Lounge Lizard is fed through REFLEX Free (a Windows-only 32-bit VST) to produce the delay/reverb effect.
I bought the Strat new in 1980. Fender (CBS) made 10000 of them in an effort to improve the build-quality issues they were having at the time. The first 500 (in white) had issues with the paintwork disintegrating. This guitar features a 4-bolt neckplate after CBS had problems with the 3-bolt plate supplied on the standard '70s Strats, a truss-rod adjustable at the body-end of the neck, and locking Sperzel tuners. It's quite a heavy beast.

And by the time mine was manufactured, I believe Fender had permanently adopted the four-bolt neck attachment.Last edited by Sonic Bodhi; 05-04-2022, 02:48 PM.Comment

Mine weighs in at 9.75 lbs, but I think a typical new Strat weighs in between 7-5-8.5 lbs.
The original Stratocasters had 4-bolt neck-plates until 1971 when they started using a 3-bolt system.
The 25th Anniversary model was the first Strat built since '71 to use the 4-bolt system. I think all Strats made since mid '81 reverted to the 4-bolt.Comment
