Great catch on the descriptor "environmental." Being a physicist I have pretty much exactly equated ambient with environmental for a long time. So when I started coming across styles of ambient which had beats and such it took me by surprise. For myself I always wanted to give the feeling of environments, although unnatural and sinister ones myself.
