I thought I'd post a link to Robert Rich's website that has a Q&A section with loads of valuable info from the master himself. I found it pretty insightful.
I will check this out, I actually haven't heard much of Robert Rich's work that I know of. EDIT: skimmed over the article a bit, and noticed the name Tim Conrardy, which is familiar to me- didn't he write a bunch of patches for the Sytrus plug-in of FL Studio?

That wouldn't surprise me, he was a very prolific sound designer and electronic music home artist. Tim was an active member over at KvR for many yrs. He owned a nice collection of vintage HW synths. He had his hand in synths like Algo Music. Check out 'M42 Nebula' for a great ambient synth...as well as many others; https://www.kvraudio.com/q.php?searc...tim%20conrardy

That's a great tune, very enjoyable. I used to have an account at KVR but haven't used it in many years- used to get sound fonts and free vst plugins there.
Tim Conrardy programmed a bunch of patches for the DX7 as well. You can download some of them here.
Very cool! here is the rest of it; https://dxsysex.com/
I have a crap load of patches now, but these look much more organized from what I have. I have to look into this. I love my NI FM7.

I downloaded all these patches some time ago but have yet to actually load any into the old DX7. It's kinda needing a battery these days...
These patches should also work in the Dexed synth which is free and cross platform (PC,Mac, Linux) and actually sounds very good. Has a great GUI also.

I have NI FM7 as well as FM8. They have done right by me over the years. I will check out those DX7 patches, as well. Thanks for posting them,
