Basics of ADSR Envelope

Heyo, to some this is pretty basic info; but I think this article is pretty helpful for people newer to the world of synthesis.

As "basic" as it might sound it's always worth posting links like this as every now and then an experience musician, that could be great on a traditional instrument, may decide to have a go at electronic stuff and articles like this help loads.

Oddly, I tried to go to your music link, because I was interested in checking out your stuff, but it's asking me to log in.

EDIT: Tried logging in, but that only took me to my own page on soundcloud.. hmmmm. is your page set to private?

EDIT TWO: Oh, duh... I had to put it in the search engine on sc.. odd that it doesn't automatically come up when clicking on your link.

EDIT THREE: Listening to 'Condensation'- an absolutely wonderful piece, Barry! Looking for a 'buy' button, but don't seem to be able to find one- oh well, I'll just muck around until I figure it out!

ADSR can be used to shape sampled sounds, as well- back in the 1980s when I had a Yamaha DX100 FM synth, I sometimes sampled it into a Yamaha VSS-30 Digital Voice Sampler, and used the envelope shaper to custom tailor the sound- the sampler was only 8-bit, but I was able to come up with some great 'lo-fi' stuff as a result.
