  • Hello from Canada / www.synth4ever.com

    Hi all,

Great website and forum! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I am interested to network with others, and share some of my own ambient synth tracks/demos for your viewing and listening pleasure (hopefully).

For as long as I can remember, I've had a love for synths, ambient, chillout and IDM electronica. It all started when I was a young kid and my parents bought an Isao Tomita vinyl record called KOSMOS... the man is a master of synthesis, space/ambient and soundscapes. That early exposure set me on an ambient musical path ever since.

Since last year I finally started acquiring some synths of my own. I currently own a Novation Supernova II, Novation KS5, Access Virus B and Alesis Andromeda A6.

After watching many Youtube synth demos, I was inspired to create my own (which you can watch here: http://www.youtube.com/synth4ever). I really enjoy the improvisational aspects of live performance in a space-ambient style, especially with hardware synths (vs. DAW/MIDI playback).

I've also recently started my own website dedicated to select synthesizers, synth demos and synthesis/ambient music in general at http://www.synth4ever.com

Thanks again for the website, looking forward to sharing music, discussions and connecting with others who love synths and ambient!

    Cheers

    Hi there!

Just watched some of your videos. Truly awesome material. I love how to take nice pieces of hardware, improvise, and create such lush and melodic ambient pieces that sound as if they were sequenced previously but you're playing them all live! Brilliant stuff. Really glad you found our little community. Based on what I've already heard, we all have much to benefit from your knowledge and skill.

    Welcome to AO!

Wow thanks for your kind words, S1gns!

To be honest I am still learning synthesis (I haven't even installed a DAW yet)! I've simply been practicing and improvising on hardware since last winter. I'll try to impart any knowledge I can if anyone has questions about the synths or my techniques, although I'm sure there are many who know far more than I do. That said, I think creativity, being able to improvise and jam live is an important skill to have. I look forward to learning more general recording, DAW workflow and production techniques in the future from you guys, too.

Speaking of which, I listened to some of your tracks -- great stuff, very creative and high quality production! BTW I'm on the west coast, too... but not in California, otherwise I'd suggest getting together for a synth jam sometime. ;D

If you're ever looking for new ambient material or tracks for your podcast, I'd love to contribute... let me know and I'll send some your way from my SoundCloud. Cheers bud.

PS: did you attend AMBIcon 2013? I saw some of the clips online -- it looked (and sounded) fantastic!
