  • What do you do, besides music?

    Your job?
    Your paid work?
Your "primary" earner even though music may be your focused passion/actual career?
The job that supplements your music?

I look after a young lad with autism/ADHD. A position I feel honoured to be in and care deeply about.
And I am a youth worker for a charity.

    Yours?

I'm a senior embedded systems software engineer specializing in resource-constrained systems, primarily in the industrial automation/building controls area, sometimes doing application development concurrently with assembly language/C coding. I've also worked on childrens computer games, dataabse systems, 3D graphics engines, and once a silly access control system for Westinghouse.

Other than that, music and writing.. I have no life! :o

We probably weren't given enough time to test that. Whatever it is.

IT. Used to do more programming but now mostly support (as in systems/DBs not hardware). Have 'senior' in my job title too.

And I seem to make too much tea at work.
Latest release: never to be repeated

I sit at a desk for at&t, taking an order that Marketing gives us and translating it into a document that outside techs and the central offices turn into working data circuits.

Music'ing is a secondary hobby to me, and yet costs an arm and a leg more than my primary, which is writing. I've been looking hard at how much I've spent and am continually slimming down my setup because of it.
                      Meh.

This is widely known around here...but for the newcomers, I teach guitar for a living.

I'm transitioning jobs at the moment - I was an academic, teaching all sorts of things in an IT Multimedia degree program eg HCI, Information Visualisation, Algorithms and Data Structures, Design Thinking. I've done research work in Neuroscience, Psychiatry, IT, Health. Now I am in the process of setting up a company to build software for people with disabilities based on some ideas I've had for a while. Part-time I am delivering an HCI course, but this will be the last time. The business has attracted a lot of interest so far - but still got a long way to go.
Music is more than a hobby for me although I have no illusions about my ability to generate an income from it, having made a pathetic living from it (and visual art) in the long distant past - and those were the glory days!
