  • What has made you happy lately?

Taking inspiration from KVR, what has made you happy lately?

I'm finally getting toward a setup that I really like. I now have decent monitors, a decent interface, and a new mic that I'm really digging.

I received Windows 8 Pro from my mom for my birthday, so once TASCAM has their Windows 8 drivers for my interface, I'll be upgrading.

Also, though the reasons aren't that great, my fiance, Mark, too the day off work today, and will probably take tomorrow as well.

My mom moved to an appartment last weekend. Most of the work is behind us and she's settled right now. That makes me happy.

      Good for her!

I hate moving and everything involved in it. :o

Another happy today: I backed up my C drive, double-checked for Win8 compatibility, and went for it.

I had to re-install my interface's drivers, and of course install a program that allows me to use Win7 gadgets on my desktop, but all is running smoothly!

I wasn't going to, but I heard that there were benefits for music production, so I backed up my Win7 disc and went for it. Now I'm glad I did! Cubase loads in a quarter of the time or less. It's really pretty amazing.

The only thing I don't like so far is that the Windows Aero Glass is gone. :(

I ordered one of Mark's presents today.

This part is musical(-related, anyway). His other gift is graphical in nature.

I hope he's happy with his gifts. I believe he will be, but I always worry. He didn't install his last-year's christmas gift until about two months ago when he finally had to upgrade his computer (CorelDRAW X5), although that wasn't the only gift I gave him. I also gave him a power tool which he uses whenever he can, so not all was lost.

Also, the domain name that I was selling transferred faster than I thought it would, and they're pushing payment through tomorrow (they said), so I should be able to pay off one of my zZounds orders tomorrow.

Then only one more payment on another order, and three more on the last.

After I pay off the first one I mentioned is when I'm ordering my bass. Well, after the holidays are over.

                  It's my Friday.

About to dig into season 4 of Lost while my daughter and I eat rice crackers.

                      Is that the transparency malarky?

Can't say I'll miss it, always thought it looked a little... tacky? And hard to read (old eyes.... )

                        Awww...how cute!

Willow has started to sleep on our bed, but Kaylee won't even jump up on it anymore. :(

See, I always found the WinXP interface a little tacky and stuck with the Win2000-style windows.

Windows 7, on the other hand, I really liked. Yes, that's the transparency, and I loved it, especially as I usually have 8-10 windows open at a time, and I was able to see what's behind the front-most windows.

Win8 is flat. No styling what-so-ever. I'm getting used to it, but I much prefer the Win7 interface.

I started brewing my own Kombucha tea a few weeks ago and I am finally beginning to drink the fruits of my labor. :D For those that don't know, Kombucha is a fermented tea created with sweet green or black tea put together in a glass jar with a culture called a SCOBY. It seems pretty sketchy at first...using bacteria and yeast to make a drink...but from what I understand it's not that far off from beer or any other fermented beverage.

My reason for wanting to brew my own was simple...1.) I love Kombucha but it costs $3.50 a bottle and 2.) the health benefits of drinking it are super high.

Oh and speaking of super high...there is a small amount of alcohol in the tea as a result of the fermentation. After you drink a bottle you tend to feel "better."

I'm not really a fan of tea or coffee, and unfortunately, because of my meds, I can't drink any alcohol. Not even a drop.

But good for you for brewing your own!

Me neither because of diabetes. But I can live with that although I was a pretty heavy drinker before diabetes was diagnosed. Complete sober now.
