  • Groovebox for ambient?

    Hey all!

Haven't posted in a while here, but I've been lurking regularly. Lately I've been looking at getting a groovebox like the RS7K or something to make some simple ambient stuff, maybe to use in conjunction with my guitar rig. Anyone care to share any experiences about making ambient music this way? Also, any recommendations for a cheap but good groovebox?

    Cheers
    Nils

I still have my old MC303 and during the late 90's-early 00's used it often. You can find these on eBay for around $150-200

(here is someone who is not me doing it)

I've used this on iPad...still fiddly compared to what the physical Reactable must be like...and more limited...but great fun

haha wow what a device. Sadly I don't have an iPad to mess around with and my phone probably can't handle that stuff.... Watched this video, and now I want a sequencer synth thing even more :(

I just wish I had more money :( most of my free cash goes towards guitar gear, amps and pedals and whatnot. Really want to get some synths and stuff also though

I can relate! I got a guitar and some pedals at Christmas. So now I am dealing with guitar GAS as well as my perennial synth lust. I'm doomed to poverty

Oh, especially for ambient music that stuff can become very expensive very easily. There are cheaper ways to get off with guitar though. If you need any directions for guitar gear, feel free to ask me!

Haha, yeah no I don't think that would happen. Maybe one or two pedals for a synth, but I ain't got enough geetars to be selling them off.

I love the mc-303! I still have mine too. It was 1997 and I was in high school getting into electronic music and played with one at the local Sam Ash store and instantly fell in love with it just by playing with the preset patterns on the keys XD I saved my money the best I could and for Christmas my mom said she'll pay the rest of what I needed to save as my gift, I was ecstatic! I rarely take it out as much anymore but I have great memories of making my first tracks with it and uploading them to mp3.com. Now I feel like breaking it out and having some fun XD
