  • Coming soon on patchpool: Sonic Tabulator for Serum

    I just released my first soundset for Xfer's Serum:

    Sonic Tabulator for Serum contains 101 patches including 1 variation covering a wide range of atmospheric sounds, warm pads, huge drones, tinkling bells, snappy plucks, expressive leads and resynthesized instruments, other worldy noises and animated sequences. Cold digitalness and darker soundworlds unite with warm, emotionally appealing sonic goodness.

    All waveforms in this set are new and fresh, often created by using samples from acoustic instruments from the gigantic pool of patchpool samples as sound sources for the generation of wavetables. Depending on the amount of slots in Serum's modulation matrix, each patch has up to 4 Macros and the Modwheel assigned, many also use Aftertouch. As Serum also allows for sample playback in it's noise oscillator, a folder with wav samples (44.1 Khz/24 and 16 Bit) is also included in this library.

    You can view/download the PDF for this set including the licence agreement, more info and a detalled patchlist here.

    Specs:
    • * 101 patches including 1 variation (107.3 MB)
      * 226.4 MB of samples, 26 wavs/44.1 Khz/24 & 16 Bit/stereo
      * 88 wavetables (74.8 MB)
      *Delivery: Download
      *Price (paypal): € 28 EUR

    Patch categories:
    • *Bells & Plucks (4)
      *Synths & Basses (7)
      *Leads & Vox (8)
      *Pads (13)
      *Soundscapes & Drones (34 + 1 variation)
      *Sequencer (18)
      *Brass (3)
      *Strings (8)
      *Drums / Percussion (2)
      *Sound FX (3)

    Order Sonic Tabulator for € 28 EUR on the product page.

    All demos were produced entirely with Serum using only patches from Sonic Tabulator, no post-processing was applied apart from a limiter on the outputs and some volume automation, if several instances of Serum were used in a track.

    Nice, I had the same experience with the Serum.. after making two patches with the demo, I bought it hands down... I also sold my Access Virus TI because of Serum.. since it kind of put the Virus to shame in regards to wavetable synthesis.. which was what I enjoyed in the Virus... Will be checking out this release! Have a Good day!

      Quick and dirty demo for the patch "Synced Sweller" played live on HD tweaking the Modwheel and the Macro on the fly (I ran out of slots in the matrix for all that swelling and ampmod stuff) - pretty rich I'd say:

        Serum certainly opens new doors for wavetable synthesis, it's not perfect (yet), but it's darn good!

          That is a pretty sweet patch. Listening to it out of context, I would have probably put it down to three separate synth's.
          I believe that with a few updates, it will be pretty damn close to perfect.. I saw they added pitch-bend automation in the latest update, which I thought was a weird thing to not have when it was released.. Something I would love to see is a way of designing your own filters.. (I imagine this will never come to be, since it is a pretty bold wish)

            Thanks, if you want to design your own filters, have a look at LinPlugs Spectral, another awesome synth.

              Ahh Yes, the Spectral I tried that one out a while back, really nice synth..
              Will have to revisit it I think
              Have you got any wish-list features for the serum?

                Yes, a decent reverb with modulation options and more slots in the Modmatrix, 16 often is not enough and the reverb is the worst I've heard in a synt.

                  Agreed, more mod-slots would be nice.. something in the lines of alchemy's perhaps Yes the reverb is kind of a let-down, I just solved it by not using it.. I read somewhere that a second algorithm and a mod-feature (for the verb) is contemplated for future updates

                    Same here, I use the reverb filter instead sometimes, which sounds amazing at very low frequencies when slowly modulated with an LFO.

                        Really nice video

                          Nice 5 patch combo!
                          As you build this sound set, is one of your goals to create sounds that fit well together? So many of your demos really display that.

                            Thank you, in all my sets and libraries I try to write a book so to speak, so in a collection of let's say 100 patches each chapter should correspond somehow with the theme of the book and the other chapters. It's also similar to writing an orchestral score...seems abstract, but that's how I feel about it and it also happens unconsciously.
